I believe the thoughtful and appropriate integration of technology has a tremendous impact on student learning. As educators we find ourselves in a rapidly changing world where technology is front and center in almost every aspect of life. Effective use of technology in education will meet students where they are, growing up as digital natives; help personalize learning through increased differentiation and adaptive programming; and build the skills required for students to succeed in the global economy long after they graduate.

To be truly effective educators we must marry strong instructional practice with the digital tools that will best meet the needs of our students. As an instructional coach it is my goal to help teachers, both seasoned veterans and those fresh out of teacher preparation, meet the challenge of leveraging technology in a manner that best meets the needs of their students. This would encompass a range of uses both in the classroom and in planning and grading.

According to meta-analyses of John Hattie and Rachel Jean Elles collective teacher efficacy has the greatest effect on student learning. An instructional coach assigned to a school can play an integral part in building collective efficacy among a faculty. Technology can create anxiety and be a stumbling block for some educators. As part of a building faculty it is the job of the instructional technology coach to help all teachers foster efficacy in their practice which, I believe in turn, translates into student success.
